Living in a Place Called Murder by Zach Fratella
“…to tell the story of my city, how I saw it and what it meant to me.”
ZACH FRATELLA: The city of Wilmington, DE is a place that I proudly call my hometown. I began working on this project because I was bothered by an article published in Newsweek which was headlined “Wilmington, DE a.k.a. Murdertown, USA” because of the alarmingly high homicide rate per capita. Upset by this, I set out with my camera to tell the story of my city, how I saw it and what it meant to me. There is more to Wilmington’s inner cities than violence and crime. It is very real but there are many residents of Wilmington who just want to live a peaceful life. My intention was to show a real, raw view of the city and its people.
